Moscow taxi mounts pavement and injures people 'wearing Mexico colours'

Five people have been taken to hospital after a taxi cab drove into a crowd of pedestrians near Gostiny Dvor in central Moscow, a source in the city's emergencies services told TASS.

Mexican nationals were among the injured, it said.

The driver has been arrested after reportedly trying to flee the scene.

Eight people sought medical assistance, Moscow police said.

However, with just two years remaining on that deal, Real Madrid have begun sniffing around him again. "He led the way for us". Realizing he may have been taking away from his team, Ronaldo later apologized in the press conference.

A Moscow traffic authority wrote on social media that the taxi driver, who has been detained, had a Kyrgyz driving license.

Preliminary information indicated the driver lost control of the vehicle, and Russia's state-run Interfax news agency said he was drunk at the time. "He was shouting: "It wasn't me".

The Moscow Traffic Authority has said the driver claimed he did not hit the crowd on objective.

The accident took place on Ilinka Street, about 200 metres from Red Square and Moscow's famous Gum shopping arcade. There are no fatalities but at least one woman has serious injuries although she is not believed to be critical, according to Interfax.
